A Demo
I have been asked to let as many people as possible know that we are holding a demonstration against the arrests of our Mayor and Deputy Mayor in the town Square of Zurgena at 8.0pm this evening.
If you can make it please come along. Pictures of this assembly will be sent to the Spanish and English press.
Costa Almeria news are going to do a full spread on this story in next weeks edition as unfortunately it broke too late for this weeks edition and you may find some of that article quite illuminating.

Jim,
are you right in the head. these people screwed us, and smiled, and now you want us to support them, sorry jim, but I think we should go and clap the police on the back for doing something at last. I hope they all get locked up for many years. and I think all of alfoquia will say the same.

The only people who are screwing us at this moment in time are the Junta.
Why is this not happening in Arboleas, the next village where there has been much greater development in rustic areas? PSOE controlled.
If you read back over the past 8 months worth of information you will see how all this has evolved. Additionally if you want a totally independent slant on this whole issue (Zurgena & Vera) the Costa Almeria News editor is doing a large article in the issue next week which you will find more than just a little interesting and illuminating.
This is surely not going to improve the economy of Spain!!!
Sorry jaki Tagg but I'm not sure I understand the "dreadful corruption to us ex-pats" statement. You came
Been cut off...
I was saying: You (and thousands of other expats) came to Spain and bought a house with a plot of land for peanuts money. You probably didn't do the ground checks as everybody told you that it was "normal". Well, this is the result...
Ask yourself the question... "Would I have done the same back in the UK?"
If the answer is YES, then I feel sorry for you.
If the answer is NO, then I don't...
wOULD WE DO THIS IN BRITAIN ANSWER NO.
PEOPLE WERE MISLED BY DEVELOPERS AND SOLICITORS. AS EUROPEANS WE EXPECT TO BE TREATED WITH HONESTY AND EXPECT SOLICITORS TO HAVE THE CLIENTS INTEREST AT THE FOREFRONT IN ALL ACTIONS.
BRITISH SOLICITORS WOULD NOT HAND OVER CLIENTS MONEY WITHOUT RECEIVING THE NECESSARY BANK GAURANTEES AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WE WERE TOLD AT ALL STAGES THAT YOU COULD NOT LOSE YOUR MONEY AS DEVELOPERS WERE OBLIGED BY LAW TO KEEP CLIENT MONEY IN A SEPERATE ACCOUNT.
IF THESE LICENCES ARE ILLEGAL THEN THE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE INVESTED IN PROPERTIES THAT WILL NEVER BE BUILT DESERVE TO BE RE IMBURSED AND LAW BREAKERS PUNISHED.
You are quite correct and the situation regarding siolicitors here in Spain is disgraceful.
Banks have granted mortgages on many of these properties so it is obvious that the legalities have been complied with by the relevant authorities.
The only issue is how a regional government can retrospectively change a law, and I do not know of any other country certainly in Europe where this can happen.
I also certainly agree that any and all law breakers should be punished but how can you break a law that was not even in place at the time you acted!
