Update from yesterday
I have now ascertained that following yesterday mornings actions by the Guardia Civil both Candido and Manolo have been arrested and are being held in prison. They are alledgedly being questioned about allowing building on rustic land.
There is a bit of an issue about that in the fact that when the building licences in question were granted to the builders the council was a hung council with no party majority, however, 10 out of the 11 councilors agreed to grant the licences so why were the other councillors not also arrested.
Secondly the Guardia have seized two computers from the Town Hall. One is used by our new secretary and am informed that there is nothing on that computer prior to last October. The second is the one used by Manolo and there is little of value on that PC either.
They seized a large quantity of paperwork but it is all paperwork that they have previously had access to and examined. So we are at a loss to understand why they have seized such stuff unless there is something else they are looking for!
Also arrested in this action were two promoters (identity not known although it is known they visited Dizu, New Horizons and Procosona) two architects (one of whom is the last Town Hall architect and the other unknown). All 6 men can now be held for 72 hours at which point a judge will examine the evidence against all the men and either authorise further detention or order their release. I suspect that that is why thy mounted the operation at the time they did as 72 hours will expire early on Saturday morning and I wonder whether there is a facility for realesing prisoners over a weekend! Maybe I'm being too cynical.
I was asked to do a short interview on Valle Radio about this situation this morning and I agreed, as I wanted people to see the grossly unfair treatment of the councils, which are not PSOE controlled. Think of Vera, with the Prior's house and now this at Zurgena the two councils controlled by Partido Andalucista. Wonder why no such action is now being taken in Albox or Arboleas! I believe that should these men be released the whole situation may get worse before it gets better as I suspect that the Partido Andalucista will wish to ensure that similar action is invoked against those councils.
I suppose one way to look at it is, I might two places close to becoming Mayor, if both Candido and Manolo are kept in prison. To be honest not something I aspire to!
To keep you informed I will not be able to progress any issues until next week at the earliest, given the current situation.
